Views on my teaching
Former K1 Lead Teacher; First Grade Lead Teacher
JODI BARBUTO
" Khadi is a dedicated and conscientious educator. She builds strong relationships with students, families, and staff. Her deep knowledge of student development and best practices in early childhood is an asset to the classroom. Khadi is reflective and receives feedback well and is able to incorporate new ideas into her teaching practice. Khadi's positive attitude, love for children, creativity, and passion for her work are just some of the many strengths Khadi brings to the team."
Current K1 Lead/Co-Teacher
NICOLE KOVAL
" Khadi leads her students with warmth, respect, high expectations, and positivity, establishing a loving, tight-knit and productive community. She is always happy to be in the presence of her students and they absorb and reflect this attitude by conveying enthusiasm to be in school each day. Khadi sets goals with the patience, effort and excitement and joy that she exudes with her lessons. She is an absolute joy to work with, and I was so lucky to collaborate and co-teach with her this year in our K1 inclusion classroom. Khadi is constantly looking for more rigorous ways to challenge her students and kept our classroom a safe and welcoming environment for all."
K1 Lead Teacher
ELIZABETH FAHERTY
I have had the pleasure of knowing Ms. Khadi Toure for five years. In her first role, I met her as an afterschool pre-school teacher (Imajine That Program); as we shared some of the same students. Back during the 2013-2014 school year I was impressed with Khadi’s passion for the world of Early Childhood and her dedication to her students, even though she would only see them for two hours per school day. Her work ethic and her willingness to seek out support for students in her class was what ultimately led to her employment as a full time paraprofessional. She began working at UP Academy Dorchester in the Fall of 2016. I have had the pleasure of working with Khadi directly as her lead teacher and in some ways a mentor for Special Education for two years. Khadi’s daily responsibilities included teaching small group mathematics, whole group read aloud and ELA/Math lessons. I have been so impressed with her love of learning and seeking out feedback. Her passion for all things Early Childhood as well as working with students in Special Education still exists. "
Former Grade Level Manager
Dean of Curriculum and Instruction
STEPHANIE SAPORITO
" Khadi is an exceptional and dedicated educator. Khadi shows particular strength in developing and maintaining strong and productive relationships with the families of her students. Families of previous students retain their relationship with Ms. Toure even after their child has moved on to the next grade and view her as a consistent resource. Over the past few years, Khadi has also developed a strong warm/strict balance in her classroom management style that supports her high expectations of students, while making sure each child feels safe, supported and loved. She would be a valuable asset to any teaching team! "
MY SKILLS

MATH
Math has always been an important aspect of teaching. Regardless of a student's math skills, I always strive to help my class meet or be above grade-level standards at the end of each school year. I have successfully been doing that for the past four years.

CREATIVE ART
Considering that my school does not have an art program, it is vital and important to me to implement art every single day within my classroom for students to be creative and express themselves.

LITERACY
Literacy is an important aspect of a child's academic growth. This small clip highlights how I integrate songs and play into daily literacy learning in the classroom.

SHOWCASE WORK
I always make sure to showcase students' work in a gallery outside the classroom that includes pictures of the process. Parents, students, and colleagues love seeing that my students are working on during the school year.

STABLE CLASSROOM
Creating a stable and warm classroom environment is crucial to the learning and development of students. Through warm strict tone, routines, discipline and authentic teaching with my lead teacher, Mrs. Koval has created a caring and loving class community that has a positive impact on all students and their families.
PROFESSIONAL GOALS
What I would like to achieve
CLASSROOM LEAD TEACHER
I have been working hard on finishing my degree so that I can one day lead my own K1 classroom. This has been a life long dream of mine and I know once achieved, I will be able to foster a love of learning for whomever I get to teach.
MASTERS AT HARVARD UNIVERSTIY
I would like to get a Masters Degree at Harvard University School of Education in education policy. My extensive writing skills and continuous knowledge and first-hand experience in urban public schools will help me to strive and create change within the school system.
LEARNING CENTER
I would love to open up my own learning center in low economic communities that provide essential education for all.
"It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge."
